‘Get Organised’ Month with Store That

It’s 2017! What better time to take control of life then ‘Get Organised’ month. Just in time as we begin indulging in retrospection for the past year and start deciding what we want to change in our lives. Making new years resolutions is the perfect opportunity to make a change in your life; whether that’s losing weight, learning a new language or reducing stress.

But how many of you have ‘getting organised’ on your list of life changes in 2017?

Well, January is ‘Get Organised’ month. So, we at Store That Canary Wharf think that everyone should have organisation on the top of his or her new year's resolution list.

Why?

Recent research has shown that being more organised can reduce stress and depression. Women who described their homes as ‘cluttered’ were more depressed, fatigued and had higher levels of stress hormones.

It can also boost your productivity. Often looking at too many things can interfere with your brain's ability to process information and so getting rid of all the clutter from your house will help you get things done!

Here is Store That Self-Storage’s tips on smashing ‘Get Organised’ month this January:

  1. Using the To-Do list. Writing to-do lists of all your tasks will help keep you on track with all your jobs for that day. Especially if you’re planning to sort through your belongings; it would be an idea to write down the sections of what you plan to do and tick them off once you have done them.
  2. Sort into Categories. When you are sorting through your belongings remember to arrange the items into categories. This could be by colour-coding boxes of items to keep; get rid of and store; or sorting into items from specific rooms i.e. to put in kitchen and living room etc.
  1. Give Everything a Place. Before you keep any of the belongings in your ‘keep’ pile, make sure all the items have a place in the house. While that old lamp might look nice if you can’t fit in your living room or loft then consider throwing it out or giving it to a charity shop.

However, if you can’t bear to let go of your precious belongings why not use self-storage?
