East London Storage: Store That’s Student Storage Guide

Yes, it’s that time of the year again! The start of the new school year is fast approaching, and with many of the students in the UK receiving their A Level results less than two weeks ago, many people are off to university in a month’s time! East London storage can actually play a huge part in the move to university and today, the Store That team are going to tell you how, and also give you some other tips and tricks for getting the most out of university storage.

Only Take What You Need

When you move to university, it can be tempting to pack your whole life up into boxes and take it with you. Unfortunately, most student rooms aren’t very generous with their space. During the process of getting ready to go to uni, you should create a list to help you narrow it down.

Here are some basic things our team suggest you take:

  • A clothes airer for air drying your clothes (don’t pay the prices for the dryers in your halls!)

  • Toilet roll

  • Medical supplies to beat fresher’s flu

  • Stationery and books for your course

  • Important documents

  • Electrical items like a laptop, iPad, headphones etc

  • Clothes, but only take a basic selection. The wardrobe space will not be big!

  • Kitchenware

  • Storage boxes to make the most of the under bed space

Utilising Minimal Space

Your student hall room is likely to be small and even if you do prepare by packing light, you may still find you are struggling. Within your room, you should make use of all the space you have by hanging things on the backs of doors, utilising bookshelves, and also storing things on top of your wardrobe. Vacuum pack any unused items like clothing and bedding and store them under your bed. Make sure to keep not only your room tidy, but also your desk and drawers. Small spaces like uni rooms can get messy super quickly and tidying as you go is always a sure way to keep it in a great condition!

Still Struggling for Space?

If you are still struggling for space or you can't bear to give up your items and leave them at home, this is where East London storage can help! If you are moving to any of the universities within London, a storage unit close to your accommodation may be one of the best solutions for your small room drawbacks.

Store That are situated a stone’s throw from Canary Wharf and only a short commute from many of the major London universities. Contract lengths are minimum of one month long and then roll on until you give 14 days’ notice. This means that if you find out that storage isn’t for you, you can stop after a month; however, if you want to stay on longer, you have the flexibility! If you choose to have your unit for a longer period of time, you can continue using your space over the course of your first year, leading into your second and third.
