Crazy Things Found in Storage Containers
Abandoned storage units can be a modern-day treasure chest. If the owner of a unit fails to keep up with payments, the storage facility can auction off the contents of the unit to the highest bidder; which can lead to some wonderful, and sometimes horrifying, finds.
Self-storage units are used by people from all walks of life for a variety of reasons. Whatever you choose to store away, Store That’s London Docklands team will go the extra mile to keep your unit safe and sound. Here are our top three crazy items found in storage containers.
A rocket
Some things found in storage containers can be out of this world and in this case quite literally! In 2011, cameras followed Allen Haff and Clinton Jones around Miami as they bought the contents of a storage unit for $1,500 (£1,140). They were surprised to find that a Nasa countdown clock and rocket were locked away inside! While NASA didn’t ask for their rocket back; the pair were able to resell the space memorabilia and make a good profit from it.
$7.5 million dollars
Sometimes, storage units come with a lot more than old furniture! Last year, a lucky bargain hunter who bought a storage unit for $500 (£390) opened it to find a safe containing $7.5 million inside. Unfortunately, the previous owner soon contacted the buyer with his attorney; offering the new owners $1.2 million if he returned the rest of the money.
Brains!
We’re not kidding. In Florida, a buyer bought the storage contents of Dr Berklands unit at a storage auction. However, upon opening the container, they soon discovered the medical examiner's hobby of collecting brains! 10 brains were found, as well as other body parts including hearts and lungs, making this the craziest thing found in a storage container!
