Give Up The Mess With Store That

It’s that time of year when many Christians will give up eating certain foods or other luxuries until Easter Sunday, but have you ever thought of using it as a time to get your house organised as well? Let’s face it, no one enjoys doing it but it needs to be done! Cleaning up the living room, sorting items in the kitchen or organising your spare room – all of these tasks can be time consuming or stressful; so let Store That help you get started with some top tips!

  1. Set yourself a deadline. Unless you set yourself a goal, you’ll find that you have been sorting through the same box for the past 3 days. More often than not, when we are carrying out a task we do not enjoy doing we will procrastinate! This year, lent will continue for 46 days until Saturday, 26th March, so set yourself a target to have the entire house organised in that time. It can and will be done!
  2. Work room by room. It can feel quite intimidating to have the contents of your house emptied out at one time and more often than not we do not know where to begin. This tactic can prove detrimental and ineffective. Instead, Store That Canary Wharf recommend tackling one room at a time. Start off with the worst room of the house, whether that’s your bathroom, kitchen or study area you are likely to approach this room with more enthusiasm than any other, compared to 20 days down the line when you have already organised 4 or 5 rooms in the house.
  3. If you don’t use it, lose it. When trawling through your belongings, you will no doubt find items of clothing, kitchen equipment and even out of date food that you’ve either forgotten about or not used in a very long time. The 80/20 rule is one that you will read about and not forget in a hurry. The idea behind this rule is that you will use 20 per cent of your possessions 80 per cent of the time. The other 80 per cent of your belongings would have come out of the cupboard or wardrobe once or twice in their lifespan, if that! So if you’ve not used it in the last six months, simply throw it out!
  4. Self storage in E14! Of course, there may be some items that you are reluctant to cast aside, especially if they’re in good condition. If this is the case, Store That are on hand to help! We have a variety of safe storage units in E14 that are supervised by round the clock in-house security and are ideal for your family heirlooms, keepsakes and equipment you do not have the space for at home. We also offer forklifts, loading ramps and staff to help get your items safely into storage.

In fact, our storage units are just a stone’s throw away from Canary Wharf and with our help, you can alleviate some of the stress that comes with getting organised. We are open 8am-5pm Monday to Friday and are always happy to help. Give us a call or pop in and visit us for further information or assistance.
