Store That Explores the Use Secure Storage Containers in Doctor Who’s Eve Of The Daleks

There’s only one thing that can get past the security of secure storage containers and that’s The Doctor. On New Year’s Day, Doctor Who special ‘Eve of The Daleks’ aired and this episode in particular was set in a storage unit facility! Store That have talked about The Doctor’s use of storage units before, but we thought this new episode deserved its own special mention.

The TARDIS

Whilst trying to rid the TARDIS of the chaos caused by the Flux, The Doctor intends to land on an alien beach to give the ship a chance to heal. Instead, the gang end up in the basement of a storage unit facility in Manchester. Without realising, this action causes a time loop and attracts The Doctors deadliest enemies – The Daleks.

The Daleks

Unlike Store That’s secure storage containers, their facilities weren’t that secure. Our units are monitored by CCTV and we have a 24-hour in-house security team who can ensure no Daleks can get in. As an extra security measure, all our units are accessible by access code and you can also purchase a padlock with a combination or a key. This helps to keep your unit safe from any unwanted guests, including alien robots from the planet Skaro.

The Time Loop

The Doctor, her companions, Sarah (a storage unit employee), and Nick (an owner of a unit), find themselves stuck the time loop with multiple Daleks. Each time it resets they have less time to make it out alive. In one loop, they all run into Nicks storage unit and make the discovery that he has been storing his ex-girlfriends’ things, in case they ever want them returned. We don’t recommend storing other people’s items, but our secure storage containers are perfect for storing your own belongings until you need them. This can free up space in your home if you don’t have a garage or loft space.

The Forbidden Items

One thing about this storage facility that is similar to the secure storage containers we have here at Store That, is the list of prohibited items. At the start of the episode, we see Sarah chatting to Nick. He asks for a reminder of the things that cannot be stored. Much like Store That, the list includes stolen or illegal goods, tyres, animals, humans (dead or alive), valuable items, plants, food or perishable goods, guns or ammunition, and any material that is in any way toxic, hazardous, or radioactive. Sarah finds out that her fellow employee Jeff has pretty much broken all these rules by storing food, taxidermy animals, fireworks, plants, and even setting up a room for himself.
